Mining, Staging and Performing the Archive is a collaboration between earth scientist Jan Smit and theater maker Monique van Hinte with writer/dramaturg Maarten van Hinte and visual artist Robbert van der Horst.
Starting point for the project is Monique’s (and brother Maarten’s) inheritance of father-paleontologist J.E. van Hinte’s lifelong personal and scientific archive: 80 boxes of letters, diaries, articles, notes as well as data, samples, cores, maps, charts and publications.
For four months m4gastatelier is the archive’s physical home and meeting place. In collaboration with constantly changing guests the archive will be edited, new stories and dramaturgies will be discovered (or cultivated) and be translated into presentations/lectures/performances which will be shared with the public live and online.
The project in m4gastatelier exists of two parts:
Part 1 UnBoxing the Archive
Part 2 Mining, Staging and Performing the Archive
